Terra Genesis

Terra Genesis is a digital-twin-based methodology for generative architecture. Master Architect Gaurav Vatsa is its Chief Controller and human design co-pilot. He directs specialist design agents, explores alternatives with OpenAI models and decides which model-tested scheme advances.

Statement of origin and intellectual property
I, Gaurav Vatsa, conceived Terra Genesis. I claim the intellectual property in my original Terra Genesis writings, design specifications, drawings and software contributions in my personal name. I develop and apply the methodology independently through AERONOVA TIA Consultants.

From a parcel to a design decision

What is worth building on this site, and why? Terra Genesis begins with the site, planning controls, a development brief and a financial envelope. It generates architectural alternatives and tests how each would perform. A digital twin keeps the geometry, quantities and assumptions tied to the same design revision. The architect selects the scheme and records the reasons.

  1. Establish the site

Locate the boundary and terrain, map access and environmental conditions, and record the sources. Identify the brief, fixed constraints and facts still to be verified.

  2. Generate alternatives

Explore building types, massing, spatial relationships and architectural language. Give each option its own model revision so a later change can be traced.

  3. Test the same geometry

Compare circulation, climate response, structure, buildability, cost and operating needs. Carry unresolved constraints into the decision record.

  4. Issue the selected design

The master architect selects or revises the option. Its model supplies the drawings, quantities, appraisal and presentation views. Changed assumptions reopen the affected checks.

How the specialists work together

Every specialist reports to Master Architect Gaurav Vatsa and applies his CFCPD Manifesto for regenerative urbanism: Culture, Finance, Community, Planet and Digital. Each discipline records its evidence, measured effect or open question before the Chief Controller decides. See the workflow chart and review gates.

As Chief Controller, Gaurav sets the brief, fixes the non-negotiable constraints and authorises release. As design co-pilot, he works directly with the AI, sketching an intention, challenging a proposal, changing priorities and requesting another test. The coordinator gives the planning, massing, interiors, landscape, engineering, operations and finance agents the same brief and model revision. Each identifies the objects it proposes to change. The model coordinator reconciles competing edits, runs the checks and takes the results to the master architect.

A river-facing terrace. A designer can propose extending a deck for a better view. The landscape and hydrology teams test its relationship to the bank and flood levels. The operations team checks guest and service routes, and the cost team prices the same deck. The architect can see which benefits are measured and which decisions still depend on a survey.

An early prototype included a ChatGPT handoff and an optional OpenAI Responses API connection for appraisal text. The framework calls for the most capable available OpenAI model validated for each task. For complex, cross-disciplinary reasoning, GPT-6 Astra is the reference model for this edition. Image-generation models can explore material character using views exported from the twin. Geometry and simulation tools provide the measurements, and qualified reviewers assess the findings within their disciplines. OpenAI model catalogue.

Eight Terra Genesis Pro concepts

Gaurav Vatsa identifies all eight concepts as work conceived using Terra Genesis Pro. Explore the projects in the demo gallery. Each workspace records its own design brief, evidence and open site questions.

About the author

Gaurav Vatsa is the architect who conceived Terra Genesis. As Master Architect and Chief Controller he sets the design brief, directs the specialist agents and approves the scheme that advances. He develops the methodology through his independent practice, AERONOVA TIA Consultants.
